Many of our customers are fortunate not to suffer from allergies but are comforted by the idea that they do not share their bed with millions of dust mites every night.

The good news is, DRY&CLEAN mattress hygiene specialise in making your bed a healthy place to sleep. We are eighteen years behind the likes of Germany when it comes to dealing with dust mites, which partly explains why our allergies are so bad here. Normal vacuuming helps but our system completely cleanses the mattress without using chemicals; instead intense ultra violet lamps kill off the bacteria and viruses.

The Cleaning Process

A typical used mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 2 million mites inside. Would you let people, especially children live in this environment? Of course you wouldn’t so have your mattress cleaned professionally and improve their health.
 

This method of chemical free disinfecting is already proven in the medical field. It is the easiest and most effective way to control allergen in the mattress with a guaranteed chemical free cleaning process. The equipment operation is simple and causes neither extreme noise nor dust. It is not dangerous to humans or animals. Mattresses may be left on the bed frame during cleaning. House dust mites are not restricted to the mattress, their excrement can be found in carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, window curtains and soft toys. We are equipped to clean and sanitize these areas as well.

 How Does it Work?
 The DRY&CLEAN sanitising system has 4 components: 
 

• The machine generates high frequency waves that loosen and pulverise the excrement and dust mites.
• UV-C rays are passed over the mattress, these kill off bacteria, viruses, and spores, effectively sterilising the mattress without the need for chemicals.
• Dust Mites and excrement are then removed by a powerful vacuum system incorporating a HEPA filter to prevent any particles escaping.
• Finally a chemical free disinfecting spray that is harmless to pets and humans is lightly sprayed on to the surface of the mattress. This acts as a repellent and a retardant to Dust Mite reproduction

Why Clean A Mattress?
  

No matter how clean the home, all mattresses are prone to the same problem. When we sleep, we produce up to half a litre of sweat every night & shed about a gram of skin each day and although we wear night clothes, which we wash regularly, together with our bed linen, this is no protection against what happens to the mattress.

Very quickly the mattress will become host to a multitude of horrors, from bacteria to fungal spores and microscopic house dust mites which feed off dead flakes of skin. Is it any wonder that without cleaning a mattress, it could be the dirtiest item in your home? It is estimated that there are up to 2 million house dust mites living in a mattress and in an average pillow, 10% of its weight is made up of dead skin and dust mites.

House dust mites find a mattress the perfect breeding ground. With warmth and moisture and no natural enemies, they will establish in a mattress within several months and it is their droppings which cause most problems. These have been medically proven to trigger a whole host of allergic reactions, from Asthma, Eczema and Bronchitis, to Itchy Eyes and Sneezing.

Even protective bedding sheets may be largely ineffective in reducing problems like asthma, when they are the only measure taken to combat an allergy (source: New England Journal of Medicine).

The idea of mattress cleaning isn’t a new one. In other European countries and the United States, it has been performed for years, but the concept is new over here. It’s chemical-free, dry and all performed on site using specially designed state of the art equipment.
